For the very first NFL game on German soil, I designed a unique helmet for the NFL activation at FC Bayern. Inspired by the iconic helmets of NFL teams in the United States, the helmet served as a striking marketing element. It was prominently displayed at Odeonsplatz in Munich on game day, where it quickly became a fan-favorite photo opportunity.
The helmet also resonated strongly with FC Bayern players, who enjoyed engaging with it and took numerous photos. Its popularity extended to the 2024 NFL game in Munich, where it was reused as a centerpiece.
The NFL, the largest sports league in the world, hosted its historic game at the Allianz Arena on November 13, 2022. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers triumphed over the Seattle Seahawks with a score of 21:16. The event was a massive success, drawing a global audience of 8.2 million viewers. In the United States, it became the most-watched international NFL game on the NFL Network, with over 5.8 million viewers (excluding OTA viewership in Tampa and Seattle).
Merchandising sales during the event broke records, with the Allianz Arena achieving the highest retail figures ever recorded at an NFL game outside the United States. This remarkable activation not only highlighted the helmet's appeal but also reinforced the power of unique, localized marketing strategies in connecting with fans worldwide.
